Publishers have various requirements. If we represent you as
the literary agent we will outline what those requirements are. Here are few things to expect.
Some publishers will require you to have an assesment. This will
help them to better gauge your marketability and to see how well you fit their objectives. The assesment will cover things
like why are you a good writer, why should the publisher be interested in your writings, who are you going to market to, what
books are similar to your book on the market, marketing data, credentials, reviews, genre information etc.
The assesment is based on word count. The average word count
is 250 words per page. Here is an example of an assessment price:
15,000 word count
Divide by
250
That equals 60 pages
Mulitiply this by $4.00 a page
The cost of your assesment would be $240.00
Other publishers are set up as subsidy publishers and will require
a co-payment that can range from $250-$450.
Publishers will normally pay out royalties quarterly. Publishers
royalties can range anywhere from 2% to 15% of the net sales. Sliding royalties vary. The publishers are responsible for placing
your books in online sources, track sales and distribute royalty payments.
